What this class works with
A pranayama exploration recorded on Sri Krishna Janmashtami, framed through the image of the body as Krishna's bamboo flute: empty, pliable, and responsive to whatever breath moves through it. The seated and kneeling movement segments explore posterior and anterior pelvic tilts as an expanding and contracting ball, including a seated 90-90 position and a kneeling low lunge that picks up the expansion-and-contraction thread from the recent continuum series. The class closes with a long seated meditation on the breath as an unbidden, ever-changing tune.
In this class
- •Supine rocking through the legs into the spine, then posterior and anterior pelvic tilts with a visualized ball at the base of the spine
- •Seated 90-90 position on each side: posterior and anterior pelvic tilts into a hugging-a-ball expansion and contraction, then a side bend and rotation
- •Kneeling low lunge, hip forward and back into expansion and contraction, explicitly continuing the expansion-and-contraction thread from the recent continuum series
- •Kneeling side bend and rotation on each side, arm reaching overhead and underneath the opposite armpit
- •Closing seated meditation on the breath as Krishna's flute, palms on the chest and belly, then Shavasana
