Meeting the Goddess: Moola Shakti and the Wisdom of the Pelvic Floor

A post-Navaratri class that explores rest discovered through movement rather than stillness, centering on the goddess pose as a gateway into the groin, legs, and base of the spine where the Mooladhara Chakra and the dormant Shakti are said to reside. The physical spine builds from pendulum arm patterns and rag dolls into sustained goddess pose work, cat pose hip rotations, and three-legged dog, with repeated attention to sensation at the pelvic floor.

The Three Shaktis: Icha, Kriya, Jnana: Goddess Pose into Revolving Triangle

A Navaratri class (Lalita Panchami) continuing the exploration of meeting the goddess within, framed through her three aspects: Icha Shakti (the desire to rise), Kriya Shakti (the function of action), and Jnana Shakti (the wisdom guiding it). The physical spine builds from pendulums and side bends into the Goddess mudra with a floating leg (Durga pose), stepping back through Warrior One into a seated lion/tiger-mounted goddess variation, and culminating in revolving triangle (Parivrtta Trikonasana) with a contract-expand windmill action.

Meeting the Goddess: Side Bend to Durga Pose

A Navaratri-inspired sequence cultivating remembrance of the Divine Goddess, Shakti, within every movement, breath and sensation. The class builds a repeating cycle of pendulums, circular arm patterns and side bends that rise into a standing single-leg Durga/goddess shape with a blessing-bestowing hand mudra, stepping back into Warrior 1 and flowing through three-legged downward dog and the child/cat/cow pattern. The sequence is run through on both sides, first guided in detail then repeated with minimal verbal cueing so practitioners can move intuitively.

Brahman as Completeness: Seated Brahmari Humming Bee Breath

A pranayama-focused class exploring Brahmari, the humming bee breath, as a doorway into the felt sense of Brahman, completeness, rather than a translated technique. Parveen builds through gentle standing shakes, arm patterns, ragdoll and side bends, four-point kneeling, downward dog, and a prone windshield-wiper and spiral sequence, before settling into seated Brahmari humming across several cycles. Throughout, the inquiry is whether stillness and sensation are fragments or expressions of one unchanging awareness, like waves inseparable from the ocean.

Anubandha Chatushtaya: The Four That Prepare You

A Purnima gathering combining about 45 minutes of gentle movement with a half hour satsang on Anubandha Chatushtaya, the classical four-part framework Advaita Vedanta uses to prepare a student before entering the teaching. Parveen walks through eligibility, subject, relationship, and purpose, illustrating with the tamarind-and-bronze-plate image: practice does not create the shine, it only removes the tarnish covering what is already complete. The movement portion built through pendulums, spirals, and repeated warrior one and two sequences into three-legged dog and stepping through to standing, framed throughout as medium rather than end in itself.

Nowhere to Arrive: Freedom Within Repetition

The third episode of the wave exploration is an invitation to the idea that a wave does not move in order to become another wave: it rises, travels and dissolves, with nowhere to arrive. Rather than asking the body to move in a particular line, allow movement to discover its own pathway, this works beautifully with spinal undulation and circular movements. Parveen returns throughout to the second half of that inquiry, that no wave is ever the same twice, so a repeated sequence can be met freshly instead of mechanically, which is the freedom within repetition. The session closes in Advaita: life as consciousness is already complete, and the sadhana of movement, breath and contemplation is not to create that completeness but to recognise it.

Presence, Not Familiarity: Goddess Pose into Half Moon

The second episode of the wave exploration, continuing directly from the previous class, with the body met as waves and ripples appearing and dissolving rather than as something to arrange. Parveen names the specific risk of a repeated sequence: when we know something too closely we tend to bypass it, so the invitation is to look for presence rather than familiarity. The class runs the wave at every scale, reversing the previous order by taking the small wave through child, cat and cow first and only then opening into the big wave.

Arriving and Dissolving: Pendulums into Rising and Sinking Waves

The body imagined as a wave, and movement as something received rather than reached for. Parveen works the articulation outward from the hips into the spine, and from the spine into the arms and legs, looking for an uninterrupted flow he describes as tasting or sipping the wave rather than arriving anywhere. The class builds through pendulums and goddess into low lunge, where a rising and sinking wave travels up through the spine to the chin, and into a plank and flexed-knee downward dog pair where the wave runs from the legs through the spine and shoulders. It closes on the non-dual reading of the image: every experience is a wave arriving, landing and dissolving, and the waves are expressions of the awareness watching them. Parveen ends by pointing ahead to the Samudra Manthana, the churning of the cosmic ocean, with Mount Meru as the meru danda of the spine.

Krishna's Flute: Seated 90-90 to Kneeling Lunge

A pranayama exploration recorded on Sri Krishna Janmashtami, framed through the image of the body as Krishna's bamboo flute: empty, pliable, and responsive to whatever breath moves through it. The seated and kneeling movement segments explore posterior and anterior pelvic tilts as an expanding and contracting ball, including a seated 90-90 position and a kneeling low lunge that picks up the expansion-and-contraction thread from the recent continuum series. The class closes with a long seated meditation on the breath as an unbidden, ever-changing tune.

The Weaving of Opposites: Sweeping Arms into 90-90 Rotation

The third class in a continuing exploration of shape-shifting, this time centered on how the body meets space: a flexion can become a rotation, a rotation an extension, one shape continuously becoming another. Parveen adds a further layer, that within any extension there is already contraction, and within contraction there is already expansion, so the opposites aren't alternating but woven together. The class builds through pendulums and warrior variations into a kneeling sweep that spirals down into a seated 90-90 rotation, with three-legged dog flows on both sides, recorded from a traditional Balinese house.

The Finger and the Moon

A satsang-only Purnima gathering, entirely talk and Q&A, with no movement practice. Parveen frames the whole teaching through the image of a finger pointing at the moon: words, and even the embodied practice itself, only point at what is already there, self-realization included, so the pointer should never be mistaken for the thing itself. He walks through why the mind's constant wanting can never be permanently satisfied by any experience, and closes with a Q&A on good and bad in the Bhagavad Gita and on the manifest and unmanifest self.

Shape-Shifting as Continuum: Side Bend into 90-90 Spiral

A continuation of the expansion and contraction exploration, this time centered on shape-shifting: the idea that continuum isn't repetition of the same pattern, but one shape continuously becoming another, like a cloud, a leaf, or a stone. Parveen frames this through non-duality, embracing opposing forces, a downward flow and an inner lift, as expressions of one whole. The class builds through pendulums and warrior variations into a side bend that spirals down into a seated 90-90 position, with three-legged dog flows on both sides.
