Guru Purnima: Purnam, the Moon Is Always Complete

Parveen Nair1h 33mRecorded 29 July 2026

What this class works with

This was the first Purnima gathering, recorded live on Guru Purnima and also the day the Patreon platform launched. The movement practice wove four recurring threads, the world, the body, the breath, and the mind, through a sequence of pendulums, warrior one, and three legged downward dog, with circular arm patterns tracing the shape of the moon. A short satsang followed on the meaning of Purnima: the moon changes shape but is never less than whole, and the practice points back to that same completeness in the self. The session closed with a short aradhana, an offering to the lineage of teachers.

In this class

  • •Opening centering practice noticing the four threads: world, body, breath, and mind
  • •Pranava mantra (Om) and Vyana Shloka chanted before standing
  • •Circular arm patterns tracing the shape of the moon, alternated with side bends and hip pendulums
  • •Repeating cycle: two-pendulum dip into warrior one into three-legged downward dog, with a floating-leg cycling variation
  • •Short satsang on Purnima and Purnam: the moon waxes and wanes in appearance but is always complete
  • •Announcement of the Patreon platform launch, with a short reflection from Brian
  • •Closing aradhana and arati to the lineage of teachers, chanting Arunachala Shiva and the Purnamadah shanti mantra
